We had fantastic action the entire time, often times with everyone on the boat reeling in a fish simultaneously! We also caught and released many beautiful red snapper and trigger fish. We will definitely be back when the snapper is in season! Alex is a very knowledgeable captain, courteous, helpful, quick witted and fun! Our trip was such a blessing to all of us!

Also if you’re wondering what kind of people they are, it was seven years ago I went out with some friends with Dennis and that is the only time and then a couple months ago I called Semper Fish and after 7 years Dennis remembered who I was.   Update to owner's response- I absolutely did fish with you. It was a few months … More ago, because as stated I took my time to gather my thoughts and make sure I didn't overreact.
  This is a review I have had a little time to think about before posting it. To be completely honest, I felt absolutely sick to my stomach because I paid over 1k to basically go home with one little ziplock of fish. I understand that fish don't always bite- however as a pretty experienced fisherman, I know a good captain/fisherman can find them, but I also pay attention to all of the facts.
  1.) my group arrived on time, the captain was not prepared with bait prior to our arrival.
  2.) we were 40 mins late to even leave the dock, all of the other boats were gone long before us
  3.) our captain decided to stay in areas that were not getting a bite, and when we did a dolphin would steal our fish or bait. In fact we spent majority of our time dealing with that.
  4.) read number 3 again and imagine all of the other fishing boats leaving those areas because they knew it was was time wasted, and then you seeing them actually catching fish from the distance, but your captain chooses to stay. (Make any sense?)
  5.) I was told to stop using the bait because some of it was for other group, when the captain delayed us 40 mins because he didn't even have bait ready for the day THEN he limits how much we can use?
  So I do not know if we just have bad luck or if this is the norm with this charter, the captain of was friendly, however I paid over 1k to fish and just felt ripped off.

  Chartered a trip with Captain Alex yesterday Sep. 5th and was definitely worth the trip n completely satisfied!!!! Cap'n Alex asked what we were looking to catch n said we ain't picky just wanna catch fish. It was on after that! … More Spent first little bit catching bait fish which I coulda done all day catching 2 n 3 at once was fun. After that we set out chasing schools for the trip. My first drop in 5he water I caught a big keeper Trigger fish. Cap'n Alex said that was a good catch n not often to happen. My oldest son caught a super rare strawberry grouper it was a beautiful catch. My youngest son caught a Bonita tyna on troll. We caught a bunch small non keepers. Cap'n Alex had us on fish all damn day!!!! Oh yeah he put me on a shark that git n fought like a Mac truck till it broke off!!!!! Semper Fish n Cap'n Alex were definitely a great trip n my sons n I look forward to coming back again!!!

Even if you are an amateur or have never fished before, I highly recommend Semper Fish Charters given Captain Dennis' hands on approach to the fishing experience. He was very helpful with retrieving fish upon reeling in and helping put bait back on our poles. Unfortunately our trip got cut short due to weather and while we had really hoped to fish more, the day was memorable and we caught a nice amount of fish.

  From start to finish, this trip was memorable. I took my brother in law on his first salt water fishing trip and I can say that he won't forget it anytime soon. Our captain, Captain Andy, did a fantastic job making sure that we caught … More fish, but that wasn't the most important part of the trip for me. He was genuinely interested in us having a memorable trip as well. All the way from the start to finish we had a great trip. Even at the end of the trip, I caught a fish then a shark caught the fish!. He chased the shark with us and coached us in how to land this thing. All of us knew that we wouldn't land the shark because we caught it on light tackle. The rod and reel was a light Shimamo open faced reel with 65lb braid, a 35lb leader and a hook more fit for bass fishing than shark fishing. Even with that, he chased the shark for over a mile, measured by GPS, and we spent the next hour and twenty minutes chasing the shark. We finally got the shark wore down enough to reel it next to the surface and get some parting shots. Great trip, can't wait to book again.
